SmartLess is a popular comedy podcast hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. Since its debut in July 2020, the show has captivated audiences with its unique format where one host surprises the other two with a mystery guest each episode. Jason Bateman

Jason Kent Bateman (born January 14, 1969) is a celebrated American actor, director, and producer best known for his portrayals of Michael Bluth in the critically acclaimed sitcom Arrested Development (2003–2019) and Marty Byrde in the Netflix crime drama Ozark (2017–2022). Bateman began his career as a child actor in the early 1980s, appearing on shows such as Little House on the Prairie and The Hogan Family. He has since built an extensive filmography encompassing both comedic and dramatic roles.

Bateman’s film credits include The SwitchHorrible BossesIdentity ThiefThis Is Where I Leave YouOffice Christmas Party, and the voice of characters in Zootopia and Game Night. He also ventured into directing, making his debut with episodes of The Hogan Family at age 18, becoming the youngest director ever admitted to the Directors Guild of America at the time. He directed and starred in The Family Fang and has directed multiple episodes of Ozark, earning a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series in 2019.

Bateman is recognized for his versatility, blending humor and drama seamlessly, and has received multiple accolades, including a Golden Globe and Emmy nominations. He is married to actress Amanda Anka and resides in Los Angeles.

Sean Hayes

Sean Hayes (born June 26, 1970) is an Emmy and Tony Award-winning American actor, comedian, and producer, best known for his iconic role as Jack McFarland on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace. Hayes’ performance as Jack earned him a Primetime Emmy, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, an American Comedy Award, and six Golden Globe nominations, solidifying his place as one of television’s great comedic talents.

Raised in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Hayes studied piano performance at Illinois State University before moving into theater, music direction, and ultimately acting. His film credits include Billy’s Hollywood Screen Kiss (1998), Cats & Dogs (2001), Pieces of April (2003), The Cat in the Hat (2003), Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004), The Bucket List (2007), and The Three Stooges (2012). He has also voiced characters in animated features such as Igor (2008) and Monsters University (2013).

On stage, Hayes made his Broadway debut as Chuck Baxter in the 2010 revival of Promises, Promises, earning a Tony nomination. He starred as God in An Act of God and as Oscar Levant in 2022’s Good Night, Oscar, the latter winning him the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Play.

Beyond acting, Hayes co-owns Hazy Mills Productions, which produces series like GrimmHot in Cleveland, and Hollywood Game Night. Since 2020, he has co-hosted the hit podcast SmartLess with Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, showcasing his wit, musical background, and effortless charm across TV, film, podcasts, and the stage.

Will Arnet

Will Arnett (born May 4, 1970, in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian-American actor, comedian, producer, and voice artist, renowned for his distinctive baritone voice and masterful comedic timing. He is celebrated for his role as George Oscar “Gob” Bluth II in the cult-favorite sitcom Arrested Development, a character that earned him critical acclaim and multiple Emmy nominations. Arnett further cemented his legacy as the lead voice in Netflix’s animated series BoJack Horseman, where he played the deeply flawed titular character across six celebrated seasons.

Arnett’s television career includes standout performances as Devon Banks in 30 Rock (earning four Emmy nominations), leading roles in Up All NightThe Millers, and Murderville, and co-creating and starring in the Netflix comedy-drama Flaked. His film credits range from Blades of GloryHot Rod, and Semi-Pro to voice roles as Batman in The Lego Movie franchise and various animated hits like RatatouilleIce Age: The Meltdown, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Since 2020, Arnett has co-hosted the podcast SmartLess alongside Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, further showcasing his humor, wit, and conversational skill. Arnett also hosts Fox’s reality competition series Lego Masters, maintaining a prominent presence in both comedy and voice acting—known for elevating every project with his unique blend of irreverence, charm, and portrayal of memorable misfits.
